Every State in the United States have laws on drinking and driving. Although drinking itself is legal, it is illegal to drink and drive. All states have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of.08%. If you are stopped and it is determined that your BAC is.08 or above, you will be arrested for DUI or DWI. In some states it is called DUI - driving under the influence, while other states use the term DWI - driving while intoxicated. It most states, the term DUI will be used for driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or prescription medications.
When you drink and drive, you are putting yourself and others at risk. Many drunk drivers, their passengers or others on the road are killed because of the poor driving skills of a drunk driver. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, car wrecks are the leading cause of death for people in America who are under the age of 24, and about 40 percent of those deaths are somehow related to alcohol. Statistics show the trend is increasing across the United States. The penalties for drunk driving are getting more and more harsh. Gone are the days of police officers taking you home or throwing you in the drunk tank till you sober up.
At a minimum a DUI conviction in many states will mean some county jail time and/or probation, possible loss of driving privileges and increased auto insurance rates. For repeat offenders, the possible installation of an ignition interlock device, alcohol and drug educational classes and a lifetime conviction on your criminal record. In many cases, if a person repeats a DUI offense 2 or more times, prison time could be up to 15-20 years. It will also affect your employment. Many companies now will not hire anyone with a DUI/DWI on their record. To protect your rights, it is important to consult with a lawyer who specializes in DUI / DWI charges.
DUI Law is in place to protect not only the innocent victims of drunk driving but the offender itself. It is much better to have a designated driver who is not drinking or under the influence of anything to protect those who choose to drink.
It is the responsible thing to do. You will find more information on this DUI Laws.

Legal Accents, Legal Borrowing $24.95 A wide variety of problem-solving courts have been developed in the United States over the past two decades and are now being adopted in countries around the world. These innovative courts--including drug courts, community courts, domestic violence courts, and mental health courts--do not simply adjudicate offenders. Rather, they attempt to solve the problems underlying such criminal behaviors as petty theft, prostitution, and drug offenses. Legal Accents, Legal Borrowing is a study of the international problem-solving court movement and the first comparative analysis of the development of these courts in the United States and the other countries where the movement is most advanced: England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and Australia. Looking at the various ways in which problem-solving courts have been taken up in these countries, James Nolan finds that while importers often see themselves as adapting the American courts to suit local conditions, they may actually be taking in more aspects of American law and culture than they realize or desire. In the countries that adopt them, problem-solving courts may in fact fundamentally challenge traditional ideas about justice. Based on ethnographic research in all six countries, the book examines these cases of legal borrowing for what they reveal about legal and cultural differences, the inextricable tie between law and culture, the processes of globalization, the unique but contested global role of the United States, and the changing face of law and justice around the world. |

Legal History of Cannabis in the United States $105.14 Prohibitions of cannabis arose in many states from 1906 and onward. By the mid1930s, cannabis was regulated in every state by laws instituted through The Uniform State Narcotic Act. In the 1970s, many places in the United States started to decriminalize cannabis. Most places that have decriminalized cannabis have one or more of civil fines, drug education, drug treatment in place of incarceration, criminal charges for possession of small amounts of cannabis, or have made various cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement. In the 1990s many places began to legalize medical cannabis, which conflicts with federal laws, as cannabis is a Schedule I drug according to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, which classified cannabis as having high potential for abuse, no medical use, and not safe to use under medical supervision. Multiple efforts to reschedule cannabis have failed and the United States Supreme Court has ruled in United States v. Oakland Cannabis Buyers Coop and Gonzales v. Raich that the federal government has a right to regulate and criminalize cannabis, even for medical purposes. Legal Ethics $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Legal ethics encompasses an ethical code governing the conduct of persons engaged in the practice of law and persons more generally in the legal sector. Legal ethics in the United States is generally understood to primarily apply to lawyers, while codes of professional responsibility also apply in a derivative sense (indirectly) to nonlawyers who work with lawyers, such as paralegals or private investigators. In the United States, the practice of law is regulated by the governments of the individual states and territories. As a whole, federal law does not control legal ethics. Each state or territory has a code of professional conduct dictating rules of ethics. These may be adopted by the respective state legislatures and/or judicial systems. The American Bar Association has promulgated the Model Rules of Professional Conduct which, while formally only a recommendation by a private body, have been influential in many jurisdictions.
