Adventures - South Carolina
If you seek a travel adventure in South Carolina you can find it. Looking for some peace and quiet you can travel in a canoe down one of the rivers, hike a trail, take a scenic drive and find that peace. Want to swim in the surf and wriggle your toes in the sand? South Carolina has everything a person with a little time and an adventure in there heart desires.
The Atlantic Ocean has always been an influence in South Carolina the Pee Dee Indians lived here when the Spanish first arrive in 1521. The Ocean brings visitors from all over the world here even today.
The most familiar beaches in South Carolina are worth visiting Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head stop here and taking in with the rest of the tourist. If you are seeking adventure and relaxation you need to travel farther down the coast to Edisto Beach.
Sun worshipers who enjoy relaxing on a white sandy beach and either camping, staying in a cabin will be able to watch the sunrise and set by staying at Edisto Beach State Park. The area has large Palmettos, salt marsh and miles of white sandy beaches. The endangered loggerhead turtle hatches eggs in the area and there are sea birds and other wildlife. You can fish in fresh or salt water enjoy the wild flowers and tide pools at low tide. You can hike along the ocean or enjoy hiking through the groomed trails that are handicapped accessible.
When you are ready to head inland and see some of the forest and rivers of South Carolina for a view back into history, see some great old plantations and discover the starting of the European and African settlement you want to travel Ashley River Road.
This road for its eleven miles offers some of the best old gardens in the area views of wildlife and it will remind you why you traveled here in the first place.
Traveling further inland to the Greenville area you can catch the sights and sounds off the beaten path, enjoy true southern hospitality. One of the favorites with the locals is Stumphouse Tunnel I guess you would say it is the southern version of the redwood tunnel in California. It is more than a curiosity and stopping here and taking a hike to the beautiful Issaqueena Falls will give you memories you won't soon forget.
You will want to travel through South Carolina using Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway. This highway will take you past winding rivers, streams, covered bridges, artisan center where you can view over a hundred local artist work. You will want to take days if not weeks or months exploring the entire area.
If you travel off the beaten path you will discover adventure, satisfaction and have memories that will last a lifetime. Once your in South Carolina you will experience some of the best food, ocean views and breath taking beauty anywhere.
