The problem today is not so much about what you want to watch on TV but more about what kind of TV you want to watch it on. The market today is awash with so many makes, models and types that it is almost impossible to decide if one is better than the other. So, to help you here are some things to think about as you consider your options.
Direct-view TVs are less expensive than the flat panel models but the picture quality is just incredible. Screen sizes vary from as little as nine inches to an incredible forty inches. How amazing would that be playing games on your PlayStation 3 on a screen that big. The shape of the screen allows you to view it from almost any angle or position in the room.
Rear Projection Televisions also deliver top of the range picture quality and can be regarded as superior to some of the more modern technologies. Whilst these models are extremely affordable they do have the drawback of being bulky. Some of the models are up to thirty inches in depth which makes it difficult to fit them into a normal television cabinet. Being bulky also means it weighs a fair bit making it awkward to maneuver around the room. Another drawback is that to ensure consistent image quality fine tuning by an expert or specialist is required.
Microdisplays, a smaller rear projection TV, produces sharp images with no rainbow effect. You do, however, need a large room in which to watch it as it can be hard to watch from short distances.
DLP rear projections produce fluid pictures and good black levels although in some parts of the screen "noise" sparkles can occur, sometimes with rainbow effects. This is more noticeable if you move your eyes quickly
LCO's are really expensive but have really great resolution although you may have difficulty getting the really rich black colors.
Flat Panel TVs not only have extremely good resolution but also look really good in your living room or wherever else you put it. Sleek and as good looking as a sculpture or other work of art these TVs don't take up a lot of space making them ideal for small living quarters and apartments. One of the main disadvantages of the Flat Panel TV is the burning in of static images. LCD TVs on the other hand may be difficult to view at wide angles but they don't have the burn in problem.
Choosing the right TV involves considering many factors. How much are you prepared to pay for your TV? Type and size and have a bearing on this. What about the set up of your living room? What are the angles like for viewing, are there any blind spots, where is your sofa? All this needs to be taken into account when choosing your TV.
One of the more popular and affordable Flat Screen LCD TVs is the Samsung UN46B8000 model. For details, specifications and to compare prices on this and other Flat Screen LCD TVs click HERE.
