Alternative energy devices are all the rage. Whilst researching solar panels, I learnt about the permanent magnetic generator or PMG and decided to research a bit more on where I could buy such a device. My search lead to Asia where they are available to purchase, but after calculating the cost of shipping, import duties and the actual cost of the device, I decided against it.
What does the PMG really do?
Permanent magnetic generators generate electricity through the power of magnets. As with most generators, electricity is produced through the rotation of a turbine. In wind turbines, it is the wind which powers the rotation which results in the generation of electricity. In the PMG, it is magnets that are placed on and around the turbine which result in a motion created by the attraction and repulsion of the magnets. The greatest advantage of the magnetic generator is that unlike wind generators, it is not reliant on favourable weather conditions. As long as the magnets remain polarized, the magnetic generator will continue to produce energy through its spinning turbine.
Where to Find a PMG locally?
This technology is not very commonly used in the West, but is becoming more and more popular through the do it yourself instruction manuals that you can find online. With a total cost of $250, you can have your own PMG. You won't need to have any engineering skills as the instructions are very easy to follow and cater for the diy enthusiast rather than a scientist of engineer. They are safe to have in your home, produce no emissions and require little maintenance.
