Since coming into the National Football League in 1998, Peyton Manning has done a great deal to prove that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. The proof is in the many winning seasons the Colts have had, the records that Manning has owned, and his performances in big games. No one knows this better than the teams that have to play him year in and year out.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been a very good team over the years, despite the fact that they only came into pro football in 1995. Being in the same division as the Colts have given them a unique opportunity to see Peyton Manning Play twice a year. Peyton has made the most of this too with an overall good win-loss record against Jacksonville, as well as having put up some big plays against them too. In fact, three of the ten longest touchdown passes ever given up by Jacksonville have come at the hands of Peyton Manning.
2000
On September 25th, 2000, in the first quarter of a 43-14 win over Jacksonville, Peyton Manning hit Marvin Harrison on a 76 yard touchdown play. At the time this was the second longest touchdown pass the team had ever given up. It is currently the fifth longest.
2005
On December 11th, 2005, in a 26-18 win over the Jaguars, Peyton Manning again threw a long touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison. This time it came in the second quarter and went for 65 yards. This is currently the 8th longest touchdown pass ever given up by Jacksonville.
2009
On December 17th, 2009 against Jacksonville, in a game the Colts would win 35-31, he would tie his previous touchdown distance by again throwing a 65 yard touchdown pass. This time it came in the fourth quarter and was the go ahead score. It was caught by wide receiver Reggie Wayne.
His dominance of the Jaguars is not really Peyton Manning trivia, it's more like just one more interesting way to look at just how good this great NFL quarterback is. Sometimes it seems like there is nothing that he cannot do.
