Passing through every century, we, humans have held on to some fascinating beliefs in our history till they tumbled one after the other, after a discovery that made the belief redundant. We've believed that the earth was flat, that the Mars was inhabited, and that it was divine doing that light was captured in Amber. Amber was considered to be a divine symbol by the ancient Greeks who thought it was sunlight trapped in stone and the Chinese believed the souls of tigers turned to amber after death. Most of the ancient cultures held amber in great reverence and so for centuries, amber jewelry was out of the reach of the masses and was worn only by those who were extremely wealthy.
Amber cultivated popularity not only for its looks but also owing to its healing properties it came to be used as a medicine in many cultures. As centuries passed, the craze for amber was over run by other shiny metals and precious stones, and amber became comparatively cheaper. The colors of amber ranges from the most common golden dye to other colors for example pale, black and green. The dark green are primarily from the Baltic and Prussia.
More than three quarter of the Amber deposits are found in the Baltic Sea, and off the Prussian coast, and some in South America. As much as Baltic amber is high in quality so also there is variety. Very recently, a large deposit of amber has been discovered in India. The Blue Amber of Dominican Republic, is the rarest amber in the world and is only found in jewelry grade material but is very rare. Amber is treated in one form or another to enhance stability, color, and clarity and its malleability affords it to be heated and shaped like soft plastic and so, can be put into any shape. What makes amber so wanted is its availability in a number of colors and that it can be cut and polished to take the shape of necklaces, pendants or any other shapes desired.
The price of Amber tends to fluctuate based on availability and demand over a period of time, but the price of Amber ranges from $5 for a small strand of beads to $3000 and more for Amber beaded necklace or $1000 and more for a single piece of exquisite blue Dominican Amber. Amber pairs well with both silver, and gold and the golden hue of amber is a complement to any complexion.
Amber has been used throughout history in so many amazing art forms, and yet, there is nothing to beat the Amber Room that was in the Catherine Palace in Russia up until the second World War, when the Nazis took them apart, panel by panel and took them to Berlin. Later on, Russian craftsmen painstakingly rebuilt the panels using traditional techniques, and the Amber Room was opened to the public in 2003.

Royal Prussia $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Royal Prussia (Polish: Prusy Krlewskie; Latin: Prussia Regalis) was a Region of the Kingdom of Poland from 1466, then of the PolishLithuanian Commonwealth (15691772). Royal Prussia included Pomerelia, Chemno Land (Kulmerland), Malbork Voivodeship (Marienburg), Gdask (Danzig), Toru (Thorn), and Elblg (Elbing). Royal Prussia is distinguished from Ducal Prussia. Royal Prussia was a part of Poland, but Ducal Prussia was merely under Polish suzerainty as a Polish fief, (until 1657, when it passed outright to the Electors of Brandenburg, having been in personal union with Brandenburg since 1618). In old texts (until the 16th/17th c.) and in Latin the term Prut(h)enia refers to Royal Prussia, its eastern neighbour Ducal Prussia and their common predecessor Teutonic Prussia alike. The pertaining contemporary adjective is Prut(h)enic. Administratively Royal Prussia was part of the Greater Poland Province together with Greater Poland proper, Masovia, and czyca and Sieradz Voivodeships, with the Province capital being Pozna. King of Prussia $19.73 King of Prussia hosts over 10 million visitors annually. This is quite a change from the little town once described as resembling an English hamlet. By 1762, King of Prussia had already become an area of strategic importance. Only a days ride from Philadelphia, it was often used as a staging area for travelers heading west. |
