American Eagle Gold Proof Sets - a Gorgeous Golden Keepsake
American Eagle Gold Proof Sets are perfect for the gold bullion collector who esteems to own a beautiful keepsake version of the American Eagle Gold Bullion coin. Each of these gorgeous American Eagle Gold Bullion Proof 4 Coin Sets contain a 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, and a 1/10th ounce proof coin.
Just the Facts
(1.) Each coin in the American Eagle Gold Bullion Proof Four Coin Set is considered to be legal tender.
(2). Each coin consists of 91.67% gold (22 karat).
(3.) The content and weight of each gold proof coin is actually backed by the United States Government.
(4.) Each American Eagle Gold Proof Set is available in limited mintage. The 2008 Gold Eagle Proof Set has a production limit of just 35,000.
(5.) The four coins in each proof set has a different face value, measurement, gold content, and weight.
The Design
The American Eagle gold coin is a true masterpiece. The front of the coin, or the obverse, showcases a rendering of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' tall, full figure of Libery, complete with long, free-flowing hair. In her right hand, Liberty is carrying a torch and in her left, an olive branch. The design featured on the back of the coin, or the reverse, was created by sculptor Miley Busiek. Here, a male eagle can be seen carrying an olive branch and flying high above a female eagle and her hatchlings in their nest.
Each Coin is Different
The one (1) oz. coin has a fifty dollar face value. It measures 1.287 inches in diameter, contains one troy ounce of gold and has a weight of 1.0909 troy ounces.
The one-half (½) oz. coin has a twenty-five dollar face value. It measures 1.063 inches in diameter, contains 0.5000troy ounces of gold and has a weight of 0.5455 troy ounces.
The one-quarter (¼) oz. coin has a ten dollar face value. It measures 0.866 inches in diameter, contains 0.2500 troy ounces of gold and has a weight of 0.2727 troy ounces.
The one-tenth (1/10th) oz. coin has a five dollar face value. It measures 0.650 inches in diameter, contains 0.1000 troy ounces of gold and has a weight of 0.1091 troy ounces
Why Buy Proof
I believe it is worth paying the extra cost to invest in the proof version as opposed to the regular bullion coin. Proof coins will increase in value, over the general rise in the price of gold, as they have a smaller circulation and special appeal for coin collectors. The American Eagle Gold Proof is an impressive coin to behold. The special processing technique used to make the proof creates a coin that has a very attractive, beautiful, imposing look.
Where To Buy
You can choose to purchase the 2008 American Eagle Gold Proof Set from the U.S. Mint. Collectors seeking to add the previous dated sets to their collection will have to do a bit of searching.
Many of the older, hard-to-find sets can be found for sale online, via the online auction site, eBay. Ebay is a very cost effective and convenient way of obtaining proof sets. Before purchasing any American Eagle Gold Proof Set, make sure the seller is a reputable one and has a history of positive feedback.

State of Israel Coins Akko Silver Proof Coin $382.88 The Bank of Israel has chosen the new Akko coin with which to open both the year 2010 and the new decade. Akko richly deserves to be included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites worthy of preservation inasmuch as this 4 000 year old port city jutting into the blue waters of the Mediterranean on Israel s northern coast is a unique and priceless jewel. UNESCO s designation of Akko states that the exceptional history of the city is reflected in the fact that its well preserved Crusader subterranean city dating from the Middle Ages atop which is the Islamic fortress city of Ottoman times (18th19th centuries) presents a priceless picture and testament of how ancient cities were planned and constructed and how later cities were built emerging from and on top of the older ones. This is exemplified as well in the layered archaeological findings of Jerusalem and each city teaches us about the other one. It is interesting to note that the Crusader city with Byzantine and Roman remnants was discovered in the 1960 s when municipal development necessitated the construction of a modern sewer system. Akko incorporates and encapsulates the entire history and archaeology of the Land of Israel from Biblical times even before King Solomon through the Greeks and Romans the Byzantines the Crusaders the Ottomon Moslems Napoleon the British and finally the fledgling State of Israel (as depicted in the famous film Exodus with its dramatic prison escape from Acre s moated fortress). Akko (Acre) is also a microcosm of modern Israel where Jews and Arabs live work and interact together in normalcy which is enviable throughout the Middle East and boasts a thriving population of some 47 000. It is a tourist mecca as well and its beauty can be seen on this coin which portrays on its obverse the ancient fortress walls with the famous KhanelUmdan caravanseraie and its clock tower erected to celebrate the 25th year of the reign of the notorious Ottoman Butcher of Acre Sultan Suleiman Abdul Hami |

State of Israel Coins Jonah In The Whale Silver Proof Coin $382.88 Jonah the Prophet was commanded by the Lord to go from the Land of Israel to the city of Nineveh (thought to be Mosul in Iraq today) to warn its people to repent for their evil ways lest their city be destroyed. Jonah however chose to flee from his mission by boarding a ship bound for Tarshish (thought to be Spain today). When a violent storm arose the ship s crew believed that one of the passengers was responsible and cast lots to determine who it could be. The lot fell on Jonah who admitted his guilt and was cast into the sea which then calmed down. Meanwhile a big fish thought to be a whale swallowed up Jonah into its belly where he remained for three days and three nights. State of Israel Coins Jonah In The Whale Set 2 Silver Coins $610.53 Jonah the Prophet was commanded by the Lord to go from the Land of Israel to the city of Nineveh (thought to be Mosul in Iraq today) to warn its people to repent for their evil ways lest their city be destroyed. From the belly of the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord and was saved when the fish spat him out on the shore. He then understood he was destined to go to Nineveh as he had been commanded. State of Israel Coins Akko Silver Proof like Coin $248.35 The Bank of Israel has chosen the new Akko coin with which to open both the year 2010 and the new decade.
