One Silver

Here's my thoughts on why you should buy junk silver coins. When I was a boy growing up in the mid-sixties (man that was a long time ago) Sigh... My friends and I rode go karts and mini bikes. Back in the day you could buy a gallon of premium Sunoco 260 the highest octane gasoline available. With an octane rating well over 100, it sold for 26-9/10c per gallon, I never understood why they charged that 9/10 thing. For the price of one silver quarter and just a few copper pennies you could purchase one gallon of that premium fuel and we could ride until dinner time.

With the current spot price of silver today well over $19.00, and copper hovering around $3.30 lb. That same silver quarter now has a cash value of about $3.50 each and the copper pennies are worth almost 2 1/2c each. So for that one silver quarter and a few copper pennies. You can still buy one gallon of the best premium gasoline on the market today, and GET SOME CHANGE TOO! That's definitely not the case with our current copper/nickel clad coinage and our Zinc plated pennies. They have an intrinsic value of.0005c for the cent and only.005 for the quarter. Even at full "face value" you can't buy much gas with twenty seven cents today.

What I'm trying to say is silver and gold have held their value over the years, kept their purchasing power. Sure you probably can't just walk into the local mini mart and plop down some silver coins. Most store owners now-a-days have no idea of silvers true monetary value. Because they grew up in the last few decades, and never used silver as a medium of exchange. But my prediction is, that all is about to change and really soon. The buying power of the US dollar has slowly been fading away in the past 50 years or more. Think back and try to remember how much less everything cost when you were a child.

Purchasing junk silver coins is easy to do. As easy as going online and checking out a few dealers of silver bullion. These coins are usually sold in $1000.- face value bags which contain around 715 ounces of actual silver by weight. They sell at a premium to the daily spot price of silver. This is considered the cheapest way,lowest percentage of markup, to invest in silver bullion. Although premiums have been known to rise from time to time. Smaller quantities like $500 FV and even $100 face value bags are available for the investor on a lower budget. Junk silver coins...(Hardly)!
