Best Olympic Winner Ever
Vancouver 2010 – Athletes, results, Medals, Winners and Games
The Vancouver city will host the 2010 Olympics, Winter Olympics to be more precise; a bunch of winter games will get tackled, mainly based on snow and ice, starting from Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, cross country ski, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, Ice hockey, Luge, Nordic combined, short track, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboard and speed skating.
As athletes from all over the world, each being a winner in its own nation or continent, the Vancouver 2010 Olympics will be brought to live TV channels through the opening ceremony on the 12th of February, a ceremonial manifestation that will be watched, on live TV and via online sports live streaming websites, for the purpose of insuring the widest coverage of sports, being hosted by the Vancouver winter Olympics.
Despite concerns about protestors, recalling for saving money in favor of fighting poverty and homeless people, while others are expected to call for anti-globalization during the next few hours; nevertheless, another type of concerns arises lately, due to the climate changes and the global warming issues. Moreover, the lack of snow around the Olympics area is a serious threat for the games’ success in Canada, knowing that the majority of these Olympic Games are hosted on natural snow. If things were up to summer Olympics and gymnastics, snow wouldn’t be a threat; but in the Vancouver2010 Olympics case, the lack of snow is a serious issue, especially that snow and storms are striking the unusual side of the continent…
The main attraction, in my opinion, will be set onto the ice hockey games, where NHL teams, mainly based in Canada and USA will be faced in a nation’s duel in which the ice hockey players of each nation will be fighting over every hockey puck and for every hockey goal… furthermore, nations like Russia, Sweden and other hockey jerseys will not be easy competitors against the Canada hockey team and the team USA hockey jerseys, knowing that players like Ovechkin are here to win and grab the gold medal.
The bobsleigh and speed skating are also thrilling competitions for they are hosted in Olympics stadiums, in front of thousands of spectators, not to mention the fact that similar competitions are too fast too furious and full of thrill, adrenaline and anticipation. Ski jumping will definitely carry the best of video shooting with astonishing scene sites as the athletes jump over the cliff in an attempt to break the competition record, and why not, try to set new world records here in Vancouver 2010.

Rowing at the 1984 Summer Olympics $98.77 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Rowing at the 1984 Summer Olympics featured 14 events in total, for both men and women. Due to the Eastern Bloc boycott of these Olympics, some of the strongest rowing nations like East Germany, the USSR or Bulgaria were not present. However, this boycott gave an opportunity to Romania, which was one of the few eastern European countries to come to the Games, going on to dominate in womens sports, winning 5 gold medals in 6 events. Both Canada (gold) and USA (silver) had beaten the reigning (boycotting) twotime olympic champions from East Germany in the mens 8 twice at the Lucerne preolympic regatta. Sir Steven Redgrave won his first of five consecutive gold medals. Elisabeta Oleniuc, later known as Elisabeta Lip, also won her first gold medal. Twenty years later she would go on to win her fifth gold medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. The Olympics $4.99 Ask most Olympians how their story begins and they will answer, "When I was young, I always dreamed of going to the Olympics. . ." Some will then go on to tell of their great athletic triumphs. Others will recall agonizing near-misses. But for most, the very fact that they reached the Games at all was a dream come true. For the Olympic Games offer athletes something few others sporting events can: the chance to be recognized as the best in the world at a chosen sport. With stories of great triumphs and great tragedies, the Olympics not only embodies the competitive human spirit, but also sets a stage stage for foreign relations and politics. Historical references combined with amazing sports stories give this book both an educational and exciting appeal. |

The Ration Book Olympics $6.99 Clare Balding looks back at the last time that the Olympic Games came to London in 1948. Three years after the end of the Second World War, Britain was still gripped by austerity. Rationing was still in force, severe bomb damage was still much in evidence and no new sports facilities could be built. Visiting athletes were put up in schools and RAF camps. Yet the Games were a resounding success and actually made a profit. Clare Balding meets athletes who competed in 1948, including cyclist Tommy Godwin, who won two bronze medals, and Dorothy Manley, who won silver in the athletics. She also talks to Roger Bannister who saved the day for the British team in the opening ceremony. The programme also includes fascinating voices from the archives, including Dutch sprinter Fanny Blankers-Koen, who won four gold medals. |
