If you own a collection of gold bullion coins, one of the issues you will face, sooner or later, is storage. Where can you keep your treasure safe? My answer is very simple: In the bank.
I know a lot of bullion coin buyers, purchase precious metals, in part to move themselves as far away as possible from the banking system...but I believe that bank storage is unsurpassed for safety and peace of mind.
Let's look at the options; if you choose to store at home... where? It is often suggested that you can hide coins around your house. In tins, in obscure corners, even behind dry wall. True enough, this would give you protection from a casual thief. But what would happen, if a thief got into your house, while you were on holiday?
A far from unrealistic prospect, as I know two people this has happened to. In that case I would suggest, that you loose your hard won gold coins. A professional thief will know where to look, and have all the time to do so. Your collection may well be history.
And if you have purchased a small safe? Yes, those can be broken open as well (and won't it just signal that you have something worth stealing?)
So, I really believe that the only safe place to store your gold bullion coin collection is in the bank. A safety deposit box (or box storage), is available from all major banks at low cost.
Now - this is the important bit: Make sure you remain in contact with your bank. Pay the annual rental on time. It is common practice for banks to open, and sell off the contents of boxes where they have not been paid, or lost contact with the owner. That would be the most ironic way of loosing what you have worked hard to obtain!
People, like me, who store their coins in a bank, have always been left with a sense of not being able to enjoy what we have purchased. These days though, modern technology has the answer:
It is possible to buy cameras for connecting to your PC which are designed to take close up pictures of coins. They retail for about $150 and make a superb buy. It enables you to keep a permanent record of the coin, so you can perform research or even simply enjoy your collection, safely.
Till next time,
Happy (& safe!) gold coin collecting,
Paul

Coin Magic $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Coin magic is a general term for magical performances employing one or more coins which are manipulated to deceive and baffle the audience. Because coins are small, much coin magic is considered closeup magic or table magic, as the audience must be close to the performer to see the effects. Though stage conjurers generally do not use coin effects, magicians sometimes perform coin manipulations on stage using large coins. In another type of performance setting, a closeup coin magician (or coin worker) will use a large video projector so the audience can scrutinize the magic. Coin magic is generally considered harder to master than other closeup techniques such as card magic, and is one of the least performed forms of conjuring. Coin magic requires great skill and grace to perform convincingly, and this takes a lot of practice to acquire. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. A Coin for the Ferryman $7.08 In Roman Britain, AD 189, every slave knows his lot in life depends solely upon the morals--or lack thereof--of his master. Fortunately for one young Glevum slave, Junio, his owner believes heartily in rewarding years of loyalty and service. Libertus, a former slave turned pavement-maker, is to grant Junio his freedom in an elaborate ceremony at the Basilica Law Court. And what better moment than the manumission to announce the boy's engagement to be married? But the young couple's happiness is threatened by a terrible omen: the gruesome discovery of a corpse, hastily concealed in a shallow grave. Who is it? And, more importantly, who would go to any lengths to cover up their heinous crime? Determined to solve the mystery before the impending nuptials, Junio joins his mentor Libertus in trying to piece together an elaborate mosaic of murder. |

State of Israel Coins Jonah In The Whale Gold Coin $4591.93 Jonah the Prophet was commanded by the Lord to go from the Land of Israel to the city of Nineveh (thought to be Mosul in Iraq today) to warn its people to repent for their evil ways lest their city be destroyed. Jonah however chose to flee from his mission by boarding a ship bound for Tarshish (thought to be Spain today). When a violent storm arose the ship s crew believed that one of the passengers was responsible and cast lots to determine who it could be. The lot fell on Jonah who admitted his guilt and was cast into the sea which then calmed down. Meanwhile a big fish thought to be a whale swallowed up Jonah into its belly where he remained for three days and three nights. From the belly of the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord and was saved when the fish spat him out on the shore. He then understood he was destined to go to Nineveh as he had been commanded. The King and the people of Nineveh repented and were subsequently saved. The coin design of Jonah in the whale is inspired by the Chinese Yin Yang philosophy. Obverse:.
