How many times have you given a prospect information about one of your products or services only to realize four days later that you have not heard a word back from that prospect? No one is buying anything your auto-responder e-mails produce. No one is joining your business. No one is replying, because of your follow up.
It can and does happen to all of us! We all have moments where we go into super marketer mode and forget somehow how to talk to other people. The more you try to recruit people the more the people will not want to hear from you. We tend to get so caught up in making money that we forget to serve. Your home business is no different than Macy's, Wal-Mart, or Sony. So why treat it like it is?
Before you can prosper with your business, you must ask yourself this question: How can my business better the life of another? Think about your business one person at a time. You do not need to beat your opportunity into your prospects head over and over again before they join you. The shotgun approach will not work anymore in this new economy. Instead of trying so hard to get the collective whole, just focus on following up one at a time.
When you are writing your follow up message, Literally say it back to yourself and listen. Do You sound like you want your prospect to buy something? Do you say "me" and "I" more than you say you? If so take out every time you see "Me" or "I" and replace it with you. Now read your follow up letter back out loud to yourself. Do your sentences sound weird? Does your letter sound confusing now? If so, focus more on what can you do you for your prospect, instead of hyping yourself up.
What are the smartest business owners doing? They are putting the needs of others so far in front of their own business interest that they give away something that will their target market whats, for free. So what can you give away as a home business owner? Take a look a your product, not the business but the product. Think about the product like it is your product. If you do not like the product you distribute, or even worse do not know what it is, you will have very difficult time making money.
Now give your prospect something that shows them how to make money using your product with no strings attached at all. It can be a video series, a report, or the product itself, whatever way you want to do is up to you. The more quality you give, the more your market will want from you, and when that happens your follow up becomes an asset to your prospect and not just some e-mail from some guy trying to sell me something.
