Preparing to Have your First Indian Head Massage – Matters to Consider
Making an appointment
Having decided that you would benefit from an Indian head massage, the next step is to make an appointment with a qualified therapist. As this treatment can be performed whilst fully clothed, you can choose whether to receive your treatment at a salon, at work or in the comfort of your own home.
Attending your first session
Upon meeting your therapist for the first time, your session will begin with a consultation. The purpose of a consultation is to allow the therapist to find out about your general health, your expectations and to provide you with an opportunity to ask questions. Having ensured that you are a suitable candidate for treatment, the therapist can then tailor the Indian head massage to your requirements. Would you prefer to be relaxed or revitalized? Would you like oils to be used?
During an Indian head massage treatment, a variety of massage techniques are used on the upper back, upper arms, neck, scalp and face whilst you are seated in a chair. You may be asked to breathe deeply to help calm yourself and increase oxygen delivery to your body. The practitioner uses their thumbs, fingertips, heel of the hand and the whole of the hand to work on the areas that are most tense.
The session usually lasts from between twenty to forty five minutes. After the treatment is complete, you may be asked to sit quietly for a further ten to twenty minutes.
Following your treatment
To obtain the most benefit from an Indian head massage, it is advised to take some time to relax after your treatment. You are likely to feel relaxed and sleepy although some individuals have been known to experience dizziness following treatment. You should drink plenty of water to enhance the flushing of toxins from your system and to ensure that your body is well hydrated. It is also advisable to eat light meals and avoid stimulants such as tea, coffee, alcohol and nicotine for at least twelve hours after your treatment. If your therapist has applied oil to your hair, it is recommended to leave it on your hair for at least two hours following your treatment or overnight. Whether sesame, sweet almond, coconut or olive oil has been used, an improvement in the condition and manageability of your hair should be seen.
Planning your next treatment
You can discuss a treatment plan with your therapist during the initial consultation. Usually however, it is recommended to allow at least five to ten days between treatments to allow your body to gain full benefits from the treatment. Having monthly Indian head massages can help to keep your stress levels under control.

Indian Summer $14.5 One of the most charming and memorable romantic comedies in American literature, William Dean Howells's "Indian Summer" tells of a season in the life of Theodore Colville. Colville, just turned forty, has spent years as a successful midwestern newspaper publisher. Now he sells his business and heads for Italy, where as a young man he had dreamed of a career as an architect and fallen hopelessly in love. In Florence, Colville runs into Lina Bowen, sometime best friend of the woman who jilted him and the vivacious survivor of an unhappy marriage. He also meets her young visitor, twenty-year-old Imogene Graham--lovely, earnest to a fault, and brimming with the excitement of her first encounter with the great world. The drama that plays out among these three gifted and well-meaning people against the backdrop of Florence, the brilliance of their repartee, and the accumulating burden of their mutual misunderstandings make for a comedy of errors that is as winning as it is wise. |

The Complete Talking Heads $9.99 Alan Bennett's award-winning series of solo pieces is a classic of contemporary drama, universally hailed for its combination of razor-sharp wit and deeply felt humanity. In Bed Among the Lentils , a vicar's wife discovers a semblance of happiness with an Indian shop owner. In A Chip in the Sugar , a man's life begins to unravel when he discovers his aging mother has rekindled an old flame. In A Lady of Letters , a busybody pays a price for interfering in her neighbor's life. First produced for BBC television in 1988 to great critical acclaim, the Talking Heads monologues also appeared on the West End Stage in London in 1992 and 1998. In 2002, seven of the pieces were performed at the Tiffany Theater in Los Angeles for a highly praised brief engagement, and in 2003 a selection of the monologues premiered in New York at the Minetta Lane Theatre. These extraordinary portraits of ordinary people confirm Alan Bennett's place as one of the most gifted, versatile, and important writers in the English Language. |

In it Parsley opens with a references to the 1970 movie Little Big Man in which Dustin Hoffman discovers that an old acquaintance has become a "Contrary," an Indian with a mental disorder that causes him to do everything backwardssuch as washing with dirt and drying off in the river. Also cited are the perverse, inverted "Bizzaro world" of certain Superman comics and the concept of "Newspeak" from George Orwell's 1984, which declared: "War is peace; freedom is slavery; and ignorance is strength."" |
