The Queen's Indian $20.91 This book provides detailed coverage and strategic explanation of all lines of the Queen's Indian, with particular focus on the most critical and topical variations. The Queen's Indian is one of the most important modern chess openings. It was one of the key battlegrounds of the Kasparov vs. Karpov world championship matches. It is renowned for its resilience, but is nevertheless a good choice for those seeking to win with either color. Both White and Black have plenty of ways to complicate, and there are few lines where either side is forced to exchange pieces off into a dull endgame. The Queen's Indian is the 'companion' opening of the Nimzo-Indian, and was also a brainchild of the great chess thinker Aron Nimzowitsch. Black establishes his light-squared bishop on the long diagonal, and if White is not careful, this can form the basis of a devastating attack. In the critical lines, White contests this diagonal, either by trying to block it with a pawn advance, or by opposing Black's bishop with a fianchetto of his own. |

This makes it an excellent second choice opening and it is on occasion used as such even by many world class players. Schipkov explains in 21 texts the ideas behind the Bogo-Indian Defense and provides links to the most important model games. Our author has annotated some 400 of these exclusively for this CD. In addition it contains a training database with 20 games in it, which contain between them more than 250 training questions. The CD is rounded off with a tree of all the 17,500 games. Identity as Reasoned Choice $130 In an increasingly multi-religious and multi-ethnic world, identity has become something actively chosen rather than merely acquired at birth. This book essentially analyzes the resources available to make such a choice.Looking into the world of intellectual India, this unique comparative survey focuses on the identity resources offered by Indias traditions of reasoning and public debate. Arguing that identity is a formation of reason, it draws on Indian theory to claim that identities are constructed from exercises of reason as derivation from exemplary cases. The book demonstrates that contemporary debates on global governance and cosmopolitan identities can benefit from these Indian resources, which were developed within an intercultural pluralism context with an emphasis on consensual resolution of conflict. This groundbreaking work builds on themes developed by Amartya Sen to provide a creative pursuit of Indian reasoning that will appeal to anyone studying politics, philosophy, and Asian political thought. |

Loyalty in Indian Services Sector $167.28 Loyalty in service industry, remained elusive for many researchers, especially in Indian context. This book is a maiden attempt in India to unravel the factors behind the service loyalty framework through an empirical analysis in a globally competitive industry, namely, retail banking sector. The reason behind the choice is that this industry is a major infrastructural component of an economy, potentially making the findings applicable to other developing economies. This book attempted to develop a Service Loyalty Relationship Model for the banking sector, which may well result in information of value to all global banks as banking at present is more of globally integrated one. This book is an improvement over the previous works in deploying Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), perhaps for the first time in India, for analyzing the comprehensive nature of service loyalty and its antecedents. In sum, this book is an embodiment of a model development attempt in Indian retail banking perspective which manfully strove to contribute to the growing body of research on the loyaltycustomer relationship based services marketing literature. Killing the Indian Maiden $30 Killing the Indian Maiden examines the fascinating and often disturbing portrayal of Native American women in film. M. Elise Marubbio examines the sacrificial role in which a young Native woman allies herself with a white male hero and dies as a result of that choice. In studying thirty-four Hollywood films from the silent period to the present, she draws upon theories of colonization, gender, race, and film studies to ground her analysis in broader historical and sociopolitical context and to help answer the question, "What does it mean to be an American?" The book reveals a cultural iconography embedded in the American psyche. As such, the Native American woman is a racialized and sexualized other. A conquerable body, she represents both the seductions and the dangers of the American frontier and the Manifest Destiny of the American nation to master it. |
