Those who lean left want us to believe that the Bush Administration got us needlessly into two wars. And yet, is that really so? Are the missions in Afghanistan and Iraq really needless? I'd say not, and it doesn't take someone with a high-IQ to look at a map of the Middle East and see why those are strategically important regions in the world.

Still, anti-war activists say things like this, something an far-distant acquaintance said to me the other day; "After we failed at Tora Bora to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, has become a long slog to create a democratic Afghanistan, which, like a democratic Iraq, has never before existed."

Some of these comments almost appear to be outdated and thus, currently incorrect. But I am going to answer them anyway, so I can set the record straight. You see, I've read a good bit of this sort of thing over the years; much of it is not entirely correct or uses careful picking and choosing to attempt to shed light on a complex issue, thus, does an injustice to the historical reality.

Unfortunately, Clinton failed when he fired Tomahawk missiles at Osama bin Laden and thus, he managed to make him into a folk legend and even more famous and popular in the Islamic world than he was when we helped him as a "freedom fighter" against the Russians in Afghanistan. And I suppose they are still pretty pissed off about that chapter in history too.

Remember the Billy Joel song; "We didn't start the fire, the fire's been burned incense the world's been turned in, we didn't start the fire," well then, let's stop blaming this great nation and start looking towards the future. Iraq is now a democracy, Saddam is gone. Afghanistan conflict will now be concluded under President Obama, as he has the public's support that eluded the Bush Administration due to all the anti-war protests and leftist media. Please consider all this.
