Continuing on with Hong Kong the city
Hong Kong Attractions 1
Attractions in Hong Kong as you can imagine are many and some of the views are, well, to say the least, wonderful. The first port of call must be THE PEAK, situated on one of the highest mountain on Hong Kong island, with not only breath taking views but plenty of other attractions. Shopping malls restaurants, cafes, dinners and to get there is an experience. Taking the Peak Tram from down in the town and travel up in style. Buses from Central Pier will take you to the tram terminus and buses also go up to the peak via the climbing road ways. The tram has to be the one, to see the city suddenly start to emerge as you climb, the views you get of the city and harbour are something else. Starting to rise above the many skyscrapers that this city boasts, there are many views in the world to date and this has to be one of them.
Talking of the harbour why not take one of the many harbour boat or ferry trips that operate within the harbour complex. Traveling up and down the river PEARL you get to see some of the older parts of Hong Kong and of course the city with skyscrapers galore. Many ships, boats of all sizes use this river Ocean going liners, speed boats, ferries, barges and of course the famous Junk. The trips very from just a simple tour to the larger boats/ferries that have restaurants on board and if you want to see Hong Kong as it is take one of these trips.
Other attractions, Madam Tussauds including over 100 look alike famous faces, with three floors all within the Peak Tower. Taking pictures are allowed with all the
exhibits so have your pictures taken with some famous people. Strolling through the stars and celebrities in the themed area, such as addressing the USA from Barrack Obama presidential podium. Ever thought of stepping into a Rembrandt painting well you can here and catch it all on camera.
Hollywood road, Cat street and Man Mo temple are your next port of call. Hollywood road and upper Lascar Row are crammed with the antique shops and an open air curio market. The Chinese past you will find here, from the Ming dynasty and such ilk, really different products that you don't see every day. Just think a Ming vase sat on your living room table or other artifacts of a chinese era.
Nearby is the temple of Man Mo a place of beauty and a tribute to the god of literature (MAN) and god of war (MO). incense hanging coils give peaceful and tranquil setting for a welcome rest after all the walking and shopping. Just visiting a temple you get the sense of calm, and all the other junk that people have in their heads it just disappears.
Museums in Hong Kong like most city's are first rate and these museums are in that category.
Firstly The Science Museum, situated on the harbour waterfront at Tsim Sha Tsui and cannot be mistaken because of its unique egg shape. Having two parts the west wing housing the hall of Astronomy and the east wing housing the Planetarium. The planetarium is the first in the world to have its own fully automated system, with a domed screen with a diameter of 23 meters. Watching the sky turn around over your head and the spectacular sights in front of your eyes. OMNIMAX films present two multi media films every year and presented in simultaneously broadcast in head phones in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese. Fancy launching a multi stage rocket well you can or ride and try to control a "gyrochair" all these interactions can be done in the Launch Vehicle Area. Other exhibits the and interactions, the solar system, stars and the universe. Well worth a visit for there are many more attractions in the space museum.
The Museum of Art, situated on Salisbury road, this collection is of Chinese paintings and Calligraphs, cultural relics and historical painting. The very best of Chinese cultural can be found in its ling term exhibition hall.
The History Museum, situated on Chatham road south, and once again has its own contemporary look. The permanent exhibition tell the Hong Kong story and includes the history of Hong Kong and is set out over 7000 square meters. Understanding Chinese folk customs and the natural zoology through 4000 exhibits and 750 graphic panels.
Then there is Ocean Park a resort on the south side of the island and a must if you want to see animals like Panda's and lots more. The park is broken into three parts, The Lowlands, The Headland and the Tai Shue Wan. The park is that large you will need all the day to get around and still not see all of it. There will be an article written on Ocean Park next. (attractions 2)
