The PSA graded cards are authentic cards that are graded by professionals in the field and the PSA is the most respected service that is accepted worldwide by the baseball world.
The Professional Sports Authenticator, or PSA as it is popularly known, provides an expert analysis of the sports card to determine its value as collectibles. Very modern and state-of-art methods are used by the experts of the field and then an unbiased gradation is given to the card. The PSA graded cards generally have the PSA logo, which makes the card more valuable, as you know that the cards were authenticated by the experts of the Professional Sports Authenticators. It should be mentioned here that the PSA is the largest and the most respected authentication service in the world, and so, the graded PSA cards quite sought after.
The PSA graded cards are all collectibles and are graded in the PSA 10-point grading scale, which has been well accepted and supported by the industry insiders since the year 1991. The PSA thus ensures a standard that is well accepted worldwide by people of similar hobbies. The strict grading procedure of the PSA is mainly aimed at the highest level of authenticity. All the PSA graded cards come with the PSA logo and the unique tracking numbers and also a generic packaging that do not reveal the owners' identity. It is interesting to note that the graders who grade the cards and give a monetary value to it do not have any financial interest in the cards and they neither buy nor sell the cards.
Since the PSA graded cards are authentically graded, it has been seen that these cards generate a higher market value than the ungraded ones available in the market, or even those that are graded by some other company than the PSA. Also, the PSA has a third party grading policy that ensures accuracy and the card also remain in a tamper-evident holder and they are all graded under the PSA procedure. In accordance with these standards, the Stephen Strasburg baseball cards are the most traded and collectible cards in the last year. These cards stared to be noticed in the early months of 2009 when the PSA graded these cards highly.
The psa graded cards are encapsulated in a tamper evident, high security capsules that are also sonically sealed, so that they are destroyed even under immense pressure and from most common damages.
Also, the graded psa cards come with specialized tags that has the manufacturers' name, date, bar code, player' name and, of course, the grade along with the certification number.

Grades and Grading Practices $37.95 This second edition of Grades and Grading Practices not only contains updated and refreshed material on the problems caused by our current grading system, it also provides two additional chapters dealing with the present issues on assessment, standards, and social promotion. Designed to assist teachers, instructors, curriculum persons, and administrators who desire to implement cooperative thinking and problem-solving skills into the existing grading practices, this book calls attention to the obstacles that have been created. While poor grades may nudge some students to better performance, there are other students-low achievers-who are demoralized by poor grades, bringing about a variety of behavioral difficulties that have a negative effect on future incentive to learn. Good grades are motivating, but the only students who are motivated are those already getting good grades. Success is fundamental to achievement. Lack of success means lack of achievement. The failing grades are indicative of our failure to provide success for most students who receive them. This book explores the problems caused by grades and offers suggestions to improve the quality of American education. |

Professional Coin Grading Service $103.56 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) is a third party grading service for grading rare coins. It charges a fee for an opinion as to the condition and authenticity of each coin it grades to provide consumers with a rating on which to judge the coin, and encapsulates coins in sealed seethrough plastic holders. Such opinions are not universal and many PCGS coins are broken out of their holders by most major dealers at major coin shows. It was founded in 1986, and is located in Newport Beach, CA. It is a subsidiary of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT), a company that also operates a rare comic book certification service and a grader of paper money. PCGS claims it was founded in response to perceived inconsistencies in the appraisal of rare coins, however in truth PCGS can have little if any impact on coin appraisals since dealers base their appraisals on supply, demand and their inventory needs and surpluses. Grading Individuals in Group Assignments $124.27 High quality software is produced by high quality developers. But in order to become a high quality developer it is required to have proper training and guidance. The focus of this book is to assess the quality of the individual student and to give personal advice for improvement. In group coding assignments, usually, all students are equally graded based on the quality of the software produced. This method works, but can hardly be called a fair method; it is quite possible for some students to work harder or better than others and this would not be noticed using this method. Likewise, it is possible some students introduce a lot of errors, without even noticing this. This book describes a method to show the amount of work produced by individual students and gives an indication of the quality of their work, based on the project history, in order to make the grading of students more fair and to support students where needed in order to improve their skills. This book should be especially useful to professionals and teachers in the field of software development who whould like to improve the skills of their students by grading them on their own work in group assignments. Formative Assessment & Standards-Based Grading $27.92 Formative Assessment and Standards-Based Grading offers teachers everything they need to know to implement an integrated system of assessment and grading that will enhance both their own teaching and their students' learning. Much has been written about the benefits of formative assessment that is, assessment that is used while instruction is occurring rather than at the end of a course or unit but most descriptions of the practice have been general. Dr. Robert Marzano provides the specifics. He explains how to design and interpret three different types of formative assessments, how to track student progress, and how to assign meaningful grades, even if a school or district continues to use a traditional grading system. He brings each concept to life with detailed examples of teachers from different subject areas applying it in their classrooms. The second book in the Classroom Strategies That Work library, this clear, highly practical guide follows the series format, first summarizing key research and then translating it into recommendations for classroom practice. In addition to the explanations and examples of assessment and grading strategies, each chapter includes helpful exercises to reinforce the reader's understanding of the content. |

Developing Grading and Reporting Systems for Student Learning $40.94 Teachers, parents, students, administrators, and community members all agree that we need better grading and reporting systems. Often, these systems are inadequate because they are part of a tradition that can go unexamined and unquestioned for years. Grading in the Post-Process Classroom: From Theory to Practice $12.68 "Grading in the Post-Process Classroom" tackles that all important and difficult issue: How do we fulfill our responsibilities to the traditional academy and still teach our students to become resistant critical thinkers? While the question is not new, new faces and voices in the field as well as the advent of virtual writing classrooms require different responses. Currently, most articles on the subject of grading end with the suggestion that teachers should not give grades--an alternative that few instructors find viable, especially in an era of increasing calls for teacher accountability. "Grading in the Post-Process Classroom" answers the question of what to do when theory and practice collide. In addition to discussions of the ideology of grading, it offers specific alternative, theoretically informed grading schemes--from narrative evaluation, contract grading, and new ways to configure portfolio grading to how to grade in cyberspace. Included are pieces by both established scholars and new voices in the field. Interspersed among the theory chapters are shorter, personal, self-reflexive essays that consider how to negotiate political pressures within a department. |

Truth in Grading: Troubling Issues with Learning Assessment $16.94 In the past decade, an unprecedented trend toward accountability has emerged in American public education. With the advent of computerized grading, stakeholders often have instant access to student grades. Consequently, teacher grading practices are under intense scrutiny. Since 2004, Truth in Grading has been helping schools avoid problems and potentially serious consequences that can result from flawed or careless assessment practices. A practical guide, Truth in Grading assists educators in developing and improving learning assessment practices. "As our state moves forward with the implementation of rigorous, standards-based curriculum, it is critical that a discussion of the purpose and process of grading and assessment take place. Truth in Grading provided the catalyst for our conversation in Paulding County." -Trudy Sowar, Superintendent, Paulding County School District, Georgia "Truth in Grading is a great professional tool for any staff ready to examine the teaching profession's dark little secrets with regard to ineffective or inaccurate grading practices. It masterfully examines this issue from both teacher and administrator points-of-view. Common problems with current practice are clearly outlined, and the foundation for teachers and administrators to create their own applicable solutions are provided." -Susan M. White, Principal, Cedar Hill Elementary, Gwinnett County, Georgia "With competition for slots in American universities increasing, the examination of how to evaluate student effort and work should be thoughtfully reconsidered by every teacher. As a veteran teacher, I found that Truth in Grading presented excellent questions and ideas to be pondered. Since educatorsare about teaching, learning, and what is best for students, this topic deserves a more careful examination. For those who want to ensure fair and accurate evaluations for every student, Truth in Grading is a must read " -Michael Cheatham, Middle School Teacher |

Grading Education: Getting Accountability Right $16.08 Yes, we should hold public schools accountable, but policies like No Child Left Behind have narrowed the curriculum, misidentified both failing and successful schools, and established irresponsible expectations for what schools can accomplish. Grading Education describes a new kind of accountability plan for public education, one that relies on higher-quality testing, focuses on professional evaluation, and builds on capacities we already possess. This important resource defines the broad goals of education, beyond math and reading test scores, and reports on surveys to confirm public and governmental support for such goals. |
