When grading silver coins in your collection, there are several things to understand about grading. The main coin grading organizations determine the value and collectability of the coins you collect and your collection, overall. The Sheldon Scale is a generally accepted numerical grading system that the main grading organizations use to grade coins. The scale ranges from the poorest rating of 1, (P1) to the perfect mint state of 70, (MS-70). This range includes the barely identifiable date and mintmark on a 1 rating, to the mint-state perfect, flawless, uncirculated rating of 70.
Most of the highly desirable collector coins will have a rating of MS-69 or MS-70, which are uncirculated specimens that appear perfect at 8X magnification. The numerical portion of the Sheldon scale is preceded with lettering abbreviations that will indicate P for poor, FR for fair, G for good, F for fine, VF for very fine, EF for extremely fine, AU for almost uncirculated, to MS for Mint State, which means uncirculated and almost perfect. The one thing you have to understand about coin collecting is that there are some situations where understanding the difference between heavily circulated, almost uncirculated and uncirculated can be misleading. Each of the grading categories go from the worst appearing to the best appearing coins and then start over again.
For example, uncirculated silver coins that are at the bottom level of the mint state category might be ugly in comparison to the top numerical rating of an uncirculated or AU coin. Since the AU coins run from 50 to 59, numerically, it is possible that AU-59 rated silver coins will look better than MS-60 or basal condition silver coins that are uncirculated. When you are buying proof coins, or any kind of coins, you want your collection to contain the highest graded specimens in each of these three categories.
In other words, you first need to determine whether your silver coins or the other coins in your collection are considered "circulated", "almost uncirculated" or "mint-state uncirculated". From there, the detailing and perfection is what affects the numerical rating and it is judged at 8X magnification, so they need to be without scuffs or any kinds of contact marks from coin counters or other damages.
Using the Sheldon Scale, The ANA (American Numismatics Association) Grading Standards are more detailed and they have a book that contains the grading of every type of coin. The NGC or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation offers a grading process that includes a minimum of three professional coin grading experts examining each coin in the database to assign a grade, using the Sheldon scale. The PCGS or the Professional Numismatists Guide is another grading service that has been rated a superior grading service and the ICG or Independent Coin Graders receive high marks on reliable grading of collector coins.
Before you purchase silver coins or start your collection, you need to understand the grading process to get the most valuable and most sought-after collector coins, whether they are silver, gold, or the older, rarer coins for investment purposes.

Graded Syzygies $124 The study of free resolutions is a core and beautiful area in Commutative Algebra. The main goal of this book is to inspire the readers and develop their intuition about syzygies and Hilbert functions. Many examples are given in order to illustrate ideas and key concepts. A valuable feature of the book is the inclusion of open problems and conjectures; these provide a glimpse of exciting, and often challenging, research directions in the field. Three types of problems are presented: Conjectures, Problems, and Open-Ended Problems. The latter do not describe specific problems but point to interesting directions for exploration. The first part of the monograph contains basic background material on graded free resolutions. Further coverage of topics includes syzygies over a polynomial ring, resolutions over quotient rings, lex ideals and Hilbert functions, compression, resolutions of monomial ideals, and syzygies of toric ideals. With a clear and self-contained exposition this text is intended for advanced graduate students and postdoctorates; it will be also of interest to senior mathematicians. |

Graded Lie Algebra $71.7 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In mathematics, a graded Lie algebra is a Lie algebra endowed with a gradation which is compatible with the Lie bracket. In other words, a graded Lie algebra is a Lie algebra which is also a nonassociative graded algebra under the bracket operation. A choice of Cartan decomposition endows any semisimple Lie algebra with the structure of a graded Lie algebra. Any parabolic Lie algebra is also a graded Lie algebra. Graded Reader Of Biblical Greek $16.99 "Making the leap from the basics of biblical Greek to its real-life application can be a frustrating challenge for students of intermediate Greek. A Graded Reader Of Biblical Greek was developed to make the transition easier. It takes beginning exegetes from simple to progressively more difficult biblical texts. Students can now learn New Testament Greek the way they would any other language: through a graded program. A Graded Reader Of Biblical Greek applies an inductive method to learning intermediate Greek grammar. It provides a workable introduction to exegesis, word studies, and developing a large vocabulary; and it assists the student in preparing for class, allowing classroom time to be put to its most effective use. - Twenty Greek passages are presented in graded order. - Difficult and unfamiliar grammatical constructions are explained. - All words that occur fewer than 20 times in the New Testament are defined. - An "Exegetical Discussion" section helps the exegete gain a deeper understanding of the language. A Graded Reader Of Biblical Greek is the result of ten years of use and refinement by the author in an actual classroom setting." |
