Bavaria Film Studio: An insightful look into the heart of European Cinema
Noted as the third largest urban agglomeration in Germany, Stuttgart is situated in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg in the south of Germany within close vicinity to the Black Forest. The Bavarian Film Studios is a large complex situated in the heart of the state of Bavaria. It is considered one of the largest film studio premises in the world rivalling those of Universal Studios and MGM. Its lots and backdrops have been used by directors of international repute such as Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and John Sturges to film some of the world's greatest cinematic masterpieces such as the Great Escape, Paths of Glory and the Sound of Music. The studio has opened its doors to guided tours of its premises so that visitors can get a firsthand look at the processes and techniques involved in adding that special magic that makes a cinematic experience so special.
