Portugal have played three friendly matches since they qualified for the World Cup with a 2-0 aggregate win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in November. They have won two and drawn one of these three games, with the wins coming over China in March and Cameroon on June 1st. The draw came against the Cape Verde Islands, who are ranked at 114 in the FIFA World Rankings, and Portugal had Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Deco amongst other big names playing in that game. Will they slip up again in this match? It is unlikely to be honest, as Mozambique have not played a game of football since they were eliminated at the first hurdle in the African Nations Championship at the hands of Malawi. In their last ten matches Mozambique have lost seven, drawn one and won twice.
With the quality that Portugal have and with this being their final warm up game I feel that they will go all out to win this match and go into the World Cup with a winning mentality, so my money will be going on Portugal/Portugal HT/FT at odds of 4/9 and there to be over 3.5 goals at 11/8.

The History of Portugal $53.43 This informative, concise, and engagingly written work provides the most up-to-date history of Portugal, current through 1999, and gives a full picture of the political, social, cultural, and economic influences that shaped the history of Portugal. Covering the period from Portugal's early conception as a nation through its long history, with emphasis on the dramatic period of the last several decades, this volume culminates with the demise of the Salazar dictatorship and the independence of its colonies. Complete with a timeline for easy reference to events, brief biographies of important people, lists of monarchs and heads of state, and a bibliographic essay, it is the ideal companion for the student or interested reader. In nine chapters, Anderson discusses the geography of Portugal, its prehistoric antecedents, its formation as a nation, and the events that once made it a world leader in exploration, discovery, and imperial power. How and why the country was drawn into the orbit of its large neighbor, Spain, lost much of its empire, and yet managed to regain its independence are examined, along with the trials and tribulations encountered on its journey from monarchy to modern republic. The discussion presents the factors that kept Portugal one of the poorest nations in Europe for most of its existence and the reasons that it is now, leading into the 21st century, closing the economic gap with wealthier nations. |

Castles in Portugal $84.44 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Castles in Portugal were crucial components of the military across history. The Portuguese learned the art of fortification construction from the Romans and the Moors. The Romans, who ruled and colonized the territory of currentday Portugal for more than 4 centuries, built forts with high walls and strong towers to defend their populations. The Moors, who invaded the Iberian Peninsula in the year 711, brought new stonework and heavily fortified gates to the peninsula. Portugal (Paperback) $39.02 This is the story of the political revolution in Portugal between April 25, 1974, and November 25, 1975, as seen and felt by a deeply committed participant. After the military coup in Portugal on April 25, 1974, the overthrow of almost 50 years of fascist rule, and the end of three colonial wars, there followed a year and a half of intense, democratic social transformation that challenged every aspect of Portuguese society. What started as a military coup turned into a profound attempt at social change from the bottom up and became headlines on a daily basis in the world media. This personal history depicts the hopes, the tremendous enthusiasm, boundless energy, total commitment, released power, and revolutionary innocence of thousands of ordinary people taking a hand in the remolding of their lives. It does so against the background of an economic and social reality that placed limits on what could be done. |

UL (Portugal) $60.54 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Ul is a Portuguese urban civil parish (freguesia) in the municipality of Oliveira de Azemis, Portugal. It is one of the Portuguese civil parishes with shortest names. Freguesia is the Portuguese term for civil parish, a secondary local administrative unit in Portugal and in the former Portuguese Empire, and a former secondary local administrative unit in Macau. A freguesia is a subdivision of a concelho or municpio, the Portuguese synonym terms for municipality. Most often, a civil parish takes the name of its seat, which is usually the most important (or the single) human agglomeration within its area; in cases where the seat is itself divided into more than one civil parish, each one takes the name of a landmark within its area or of the patron saint from the usually coterminous Catholic parish ( parquia in Portuguese). Each civil parish is administered by a Junta de Freguesia, drawn from a publicly elected fouryearterm Assembleia de Freguesia. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Music of Portugal $129.05 Portugal is internationally known in the music scene for its traditions of fado, but the country has seen a recent expansion in musical styles, with modern acts from rock to hip hop becoming popular. If Amlia is still the most recognizable Portuguese name in music, today the biggest exportations are bands like Moonspell (metal), Madredeus (fado and folk inspired), Buraka Som Sistema (electro/ kuduro/breakbeat), Da Weasel (hip hop), Blasted Mechanism (experimental electrorock) or Wraygunn (rock, blues), and artists like Mariza (fado). The musicality of the Portuguese language has also inspired nonnative speakers to use it in their recordings, for example Mil i Maria. Regional folk music remains popular too, having been updated and modernized in many cases, especially the northeastern region of TrsosMontes. Rock, Pop, Punk, Metal, hip hop and Pimba are among the most popular musical styles in Portugal. Provinces of Portugal $71.7 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles On the continent eight provinces were created: Minho Province, Douro Province, TrasosMontes Province, Beira Alta Province, Beira Baixa Province, Estremadura Province, Alentejo Province and Algarve Province. In the islands Madeira Province and Acores Province were created, the latter becoming divided 1833 into Ocidental dos Acores Province and Oriental dos Acores Province. The Estado Novo adopted, from its beginning, a policy of regionalisation of the country. This regionalisation was written into the 1933 Constitution, by dividing mainland Portugal into provinces. The provinces were created in 1936. The provincial division was based in studies of the geographer Amorim Girao, published between 1927 and 1930, which divided mainland Portugal in 13 natural regions. There were created 11 provinces, corresponding each to one of the natural regions by Amorim Girao, with two exceptions: the natural regions of TrasosMontes and Alto Douro and the natural regions of Beira Alta and Beira Transmontana were united respectively into the TrasosMontes e Alto Douro Province and the Beira Alta Province. The Splendor of Portugal $15.27 The Splendor of Portugal 's four narrators are members of a once well-to-do family whose plantation was lost in the Angolan War of Independence; the matriarch of this unhappiest of clans and her three adult children speak in a nightmarish, remorseless gush to give us the details of their grotesque family life. Like a character out of Faulkner 's decayed south, the mother clings to the hope that her children will come back, save her from destitution, and restore the family 's imagined former glory. The children, for their part, haven t seen each other in years, and in their isolation are tormented by feverish memories of Angola. The vitriol and self-hatred of the characters know no bounds, for they are at once victims and culprits, guilty of atrocities committed in the name of colonialism as well as the cruel humiliations and betrayals of their own kin. Antunes again proves that he is the foremost stylist of his generation, a fearless investigator into the worst excesses of the human animal. |
