How You Can Effectively Grow Your Dollar Store Sales
If you are about to start a dollar store, then read this article carefully. Going through the start-up process involves many potential pitfalls. Many of them will affect your dollar store sales, and ultimately your profits. One of those is the layout of your store and then how you use the many sales opportunities available on your sales floor. Properly done, you will have room for impressive displays of dollar store merchandise. In this article I examine 6 of the hottest selling areas for you to include in your sales plans.
#1) Window Displays
Having windows in areas that shoppers pass as they approach your store can be invaluable to dollar store sales in your store. When you start a dollar store you will discover windows can be used to promote special purchases, seasonal merchandise, and the hottest everyday items you sell. Large displays of these items help to build shopper excitement as they approach the entrance to your store.
#2) Bulk displays
When you start a dollar store be sure to create spaces for large, bulk displays of merchandise. Use your store's lobby for one or more of these displays. Use extra spaces along walls and in corners of the sales floor to add more bulk displays. If room allows consider adding an entire row of bulk quantity displays right down the center of your store.
#3) Cash Register Area
While it is nice to keep the cash register area clean and clutter-free, it is also important for those about to start a dollar store to realize just how this area can contribute to total dollar store sales for your store. Carefully select dollar store merchandise to be displayed. Include hot selling items such as flashlight batteries, reading glasses and sunglasses for their strong appeal. Add impulse items such as jewelry, fragrances, gum, candy and the like to add even more sales. Keep items organized and displays filled. Then watch as your dollar store sale levels climb ever-higher.

#4) Aisles in your store
Sure the aisles are pretty obvious. But consider adding strategically placed displays along the side of each aisle. Don't block shopper movement in your store by placing display upon display in an aisle. However one or two well throughout displays of dollar store merchandise can add significantly to total sales.
#5) The entry just inside your store
Catch shoppers right as they enter. This is the place to put special buys you've made and one-time buys shoppers likely won't find in your store again. Get your shoppers in the mood to shop by filling this area with dollar store merchandise deals they just can't turn down.
#6) Outside the front door of your dollar store
Carefully select dollar store merchandise to place outside the front of your store. Purchase 3-4 rolling displays with 4 or 5 baskets in each display. Fill them with light-weight merchandise to make rolling the displays in and out of your store a breeze. Be sure they aren't stacked top-heavy with merchandise to avoid the risk of toppling over. Bright colored merchandise works best. Don't forget to include seasonal items to let shoppers knows the seasonal products have arrived.
