3 Ways to Build Dollar Store Sales with More Shoppers
One of the fastest methods for increasing dollar store sales when you start a dollar store is by increasing the traffic entering your store. While many visitors who enter your store for the first time may make only a small purchase or no purchase at all, higher traffic sets the stage for higher future sales. After all, if you create the right shopping experience for your first time shoppers, they will come back time and again. And of course the size of their purchases will grow as they become aware of the dollar store merchandise stocked in your store. In this article I present 3 quick, easy and low cost ways to bring more first time shoppers into your store.
1) Use a sign holder. Many will find this to be your most effective means of quickly and measurably increasing the number of shoppers in your store. Purchase a banner (Just a simple ‘Everything $1’ with an arrow pointing to your store works fine to start.) and built your own plastic sign frame/holder. Then have existing employees or a dedicated sign holder (They worked about 2-4 hours per day.) hold the sign on a busy close by corner. Some can literally fill their store with shoppers in as little as one hour. Then watch the dollar store sales climb.
2) Brighten up the front of your store. When they start a dollar store some will discover this attention grabbing strategy doesn’t work for everyone. They lack an exterior storefront or they cannot obtain permission. For those who can, it is as easy as placing a brightly colored string of plastic banners across the front of your store. Add to the color by purchased 4 sets of rolling display racks and filled them with light-weight, brightly colored dollar store merchandise. Simply roll the filled racks directly outside the front door of your store – 2 on each side. Both of these tactics work together to draw attention. They will bring in more shoppers – you will be surprised how many people stop and buy dollar store merchandise from the racks as they walked into your store.
3) Events. When you start a dollar store really focus on all of the holidays throughout the year. New Years, Valentine’s Day…….through Christmas. If there isn’t a holiday in a given month, hold an event like ‘Back to School’ or ‘Spring Break’. Bring in some dollar store merchandise specifically for the event. Be sure to add signs and sometimes decorations throughout your store as well.
Give each of these methods a try. Each brings a different approach to generating traffic. Each can be successful at bringing boatloads of traffic and added dollar store sales when you open your dollar store.
