Getting a Florida Medallion Scholarship can be extremely helpful when trying to collect funds for completing an education and receiving a diploma. There is an umbrella program which is provided by the Florida Department of Education, which includes a number of scholarships that can help students reach their ultimate potential and go through college without going into debt. The "Early Notification Procedure" which was implemented for the benefit of high school students can let junior and seniors know what their chances are of getting of these scholarships before they graduate.
There are certain requirements that a high school student must meet however in order to be considered for one of these scholarships. The first requirement is that they did well on their SAT, CPT, or ACT, depending on which one is applicable to the student. Besides having a good test score on one of those, a student applying for one of these scholarships will also need to complete a state application which can be filled out online. Students hoping to get one of these scholarships will need to meet all of the general requirement for this program as well.
Anyone interested in getting a Florida Medallion Scholarship will need to show great strides in academic achievements and have an appropriate GPA, as well as being enrolled in a variety of classes which shows a balance of subjects. Any high school senior who completes the application for this program online will then receive a letter or email which will indicate the eligibility of the student. Those who are eligible must graduate high school and fulfill all of the other requirements of the program, such as being admitted to a postsecondary educational institution after graduation.
In order to be eligible for any of the Florida Academic Scholarships, students must complete at least 75 hours of community service, each of which must be documented and approved by a school or adult supervisor. Before starting community service, students will be required to complete all necessary paperwork and meet certain requirements which must be approved by staff members. High schools offer different programs depending on their own individual requirements; however documentation is always needed in order to qualify for the scholarship after graduation. It is highly recommended that any student who is interested in getting involved in community service contact a school counselor of administrative official. They will be able to provide more information on exactly what is required to complete the community service and which options are available to those who are interested.

Community Service $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Community service is a donated service or activity that is performed by someone or a group of people for the benefit of the public or its institutions. Volunteers may provide community service, however, not everyone who provides community service is seen as a volunteer, because some people who provide community service are not doing it of their own free will; they are compelled to do so by: their government as a part of citizenship requirements, in lieu of military service (such as the practice of Zivildienst in Germany); the courts, in lieu of, or in addition to, other criminal justice sanctions; their school, to meet the requirements of a class, such as in the case of service learning or to meet the requirements of graduation, or, in the case of parents, required to provide a certain number of hours of service in order for their child to be enrolled in a school or sports team. There are also people providing community service who receive some form of compensation in return for their year of commitment to public service, such as AmeriCorps in the USA (who are called members rather than volunteers). Full Service Community Schools $34.95 This book is about children who are living dangerously close to the edge, the edge of delinquency, mental illness, and poverty. Beginning with a discussion of the role of Joy Dryfoos in the development of comprehensive schools, this work is based on the Full Service Schools program which began in 1998 in three elementary inner-city schools in Knoxville, Tennessee. Chapter topics include culture and self-efficacy, the Appalachian Experience, a system’s view of full service community schools, juvenile justice and the rights of children, serving the public in inner-city schools with pragmatic ways to improve low performance, the phenomenology of events covering 2000-2004, student contributions, and effective teacher preparation that meets the needs of the whole child and the family. The team that manages the full service school project is composed of principals, university faculty and students, and community agency personnel. Ministers from neighborhood churches have served on an ad hoc basis as well as parents from the neighborhood. The long-term goal is to have a solid base of community involvement that is needed to support a child’s success in school and the community and to make certain that every child in crisis is viewed and treated as an individual. This book is about people who are devoted to helping children and their families. This comprehensive and insightful book will be valuable to school administrators, private child care workers, family resource and youth service center coordinators, alternative educators, and others that are concerned with improving educational quality. |

Community Service and Higher Learning: Explorations of the Caring Self $27.77 Portrays the experiences and development of students as they commit themselves to community service during their college years. In Community Service and Higher Learning, Robert A. Rhoads examines the experiences of students as they commit themselves to community service during their college years. The author explores how a student's sense of self may be challenged through involvement in the lives of others within the context of community service relationships. Central to his 'explorations of the self" is the role "caring" plays as a source of self understanding and identity development. Drawing upon classic symbolic interactionists such as George Herbert Mead as well as contemporary feminists such as Carol Gilligan and Nel Noddings, Rhoads suggests ways in which the self might be reconsidered with an ethic-of-care philosophy at its core. He argues that higher education ought to play a key role in fostering more relational and caring individuals and that community service offers a pedagogical opportunity for encouraging the development of more caring selves. He maintains that as society becomes increasingly complex, diverse, and potentially fragmented, caring becomes a more important facet of one's sense of self than perhaps ever before. It is only through an increasing concern for the other (the essence of caring) that one is able to bridge the relational barriers posed by the postmodern condition. |

Community Penalties $94.95 Community penalties are punishments that, in the courts' sentencing tariff, come between imprisonment and fines. They include electronic tagging, supervised unpaid work, and compulsory participation by offenders in treatment programmes. Recent years have seen many changes in England in the field of community penalties. These have included the rapid development of accredited offending behaviour programmes, and some new court orders such as the Referral Order for juveniles, based on the principles of restorative justice. Organisationally, too, the year 2001 sees a major change with the establishment of the National Probation Service for England and Wales. Community Penalties: change and challenges addresses the key issues facing community penalties at this critical time. Topics covered include the recent history of community penalties, partnership work, cognitive behavioural approaches to changing offenders' behaviour (and the need to look beyond these), compliance theory, accountability to the public and to the victim, accommodating difference and diversity in the delivery of community penalties, the use of technology in community penalties, and community penalties and issues of public safety. Community Penalties: change and challenges brings together many leading authors in this field. Together, they provide an authoritative review of a vital field of public policy. |
