Peso is the name for Mexican money. The Mexican currency was the first in the world to use the sign $ for its currency. The United States later adopted it and started using it as its own. In all the Americas, the peso is the third most traded currency. It is the most traded currency in Latin America and the 12th most traded in the world. 100 centavos make 1 peso. The word "peso" originally meant weights.
In earlier times, the USA used the Mexican currency widely in its country. In the year 1785, the value of the Mexican currency matched with that of the United States dollar approximately. The calculation was made based on the amount and value of the silver in the coins. It was not until the year 1792 that USA began issuing its own coins and till then the peso was used as currency. In fact, till the year 1854, peso was used as legal tender in Canada, along with other foreign coins because the country did not have its own currency. The Mexican peso was so widely recognized that it served as a model for the Hong Kong dollar, the Straits dollar, the Chinese Yuan and Japanese yen.
In spite of the importance of the Mexican currency in history, the year 1994 saw the biggest currency crisis in the country. The Forex trading was confused which saw the devaluation of the currency. As of September 2009, the Mexican exchange rate was 13.52 pesos for 1 US dollar.

Euro Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins (Belgium) $95.59 Euro gold and silver commemorative coins are special euro coins minted and issued by member states of the Eurozone, mainly in gold and silver, although other precious metals are also used in rare occasions. Belgium was one of the first twelve countries in the Eurozone that introduced the euro () on 1 January 2002. Since then, the Belgian Royal Mint have been minting both normal issues of Belgian euro coins, which are intended for circulation, and commemorative euro coins in gold and silver. These special coins have a legal tender only in Belgium, unlike the normal issues of the Belgian euro coins, which have a legal tender in every country of the Eurozone. This means that the commemorative coins made of gold and silver cannot be used as money in other countries. Furthermore, as their bullion value generally vastly exceeds their face value, these coins are not intended to be used as means of payment at allalthough it remains possible. For this reason, they are usually named Collectors coins. The coins usually commemorate the anniversaries of historical events or draw attention to current events of special importance. The Euro, Inflation and Consumer's Perceptions $139 On 1 January 2002, euro banknotes and coins were introduced in twelve EU Member States. Three more countries joined in the following years, and over 300 million people now use the euro in their daily transactions. The currency changeover was a technical success. From the very start, however, the vast majority of euro area citizens held the single currency responsible for a sharp rise in prices and a subsequent decline in their personal economic fortunes. This book puts forward convincing empirical evidence, primarily drawn from Italya (TM)s experience, to establish whether the introduction of the euro has had a major impact on prices, and if not, why so many people believe it has. Its significance lies not only in the documentation of a historic event, but also and more importantly, in the lessons it provides, which concern the publica (TM)s understanding of inflation, the correct assessment of the effects of the single currency, and the need for appropriate measures when other countries adopt the euro. |

At the Potsdam conference, with the U.S. operating under influence of the Morgenthau plan, the victorious Allies decided to abolish the German armed forces as well as all munitions factories and civilian industries that could support them. This included the destruction of all ship and aircraft manufacturing capability. Further, it was decided that civilian industries which might have a military potential, which in the modern era of "total war" included virtually all, were to be severely restricted. The restriction of the latter was set to Germany's "approved peacetime needs", which were defined to be set on the average European standard. In order to achieve this, ea... International Status and Usage of the Euro $81.25 The international status and usage of the euro has grown since its launch in 1999. When the euro formally replaced 12 currencies on 1 January 2002, it inherited their use in territories such as Montenegro and they replaced minor currencies tied to the preeuro currencies such as in Monaco. Three small states have been given a formal right to use the euro, and to mint their own coins, but all other usage has been unofficial outside the eurozone (the EU states who have adopted the euro). With or without an agreement these countries, unlike those in the eurozone, do not participate in the European Central Bank or the Euro Group. Its international usage has also grown in its usage as a trading currency, acting as an economic or political alternative to using the United States dollar. Its increasing usage in this sense has led to it becoming the only significant challenger to the US dollar as the world main reserve currency.
