50 Cent is the artist name for Curtis James Jackson III. 50 Cent has become one of the most popular rappers of all time through his hard work and his mixtapes. 50 Cent was born in Southside in New York City where he spent most of his childhood selling drugs. 50 cent was able to start learning how to use turntables in a friends basement. It was here that he learned all the basics of his skills and how to be a successful rapper. One thing that he did extremely well was releasing a ton of 50 Cent Mixtapes.
A mixtape is a collection of songs that reflect an individual's taste. These aren't just compilation CD's that have the top 40 pop songs on them. They are a personal collection that can evoke certain moods depending on the order of the songs. 50 Cent was a master of making a mixtape. A 50 Cent Mixtape was something to behold. He would take current top tracks and rework them, adding his own touch and then throw them on explosive mixtapes that he would ship out throughout the country. He is known for being a shrewd businessmen and he knows how to take advantage of the situation. He used his mixtapes as way to build a reputation. Instead of coming out front like most musicians do, he built a following behind the scenes. Everyone wanted to get their hands on 50 Cent mixtapes.
His method of developing his craft paid off when Eminem began listening to his stuff. Eminem brought him to Los Angeles to introduce him to another industry legend Dr Dre.From then on he released album after album and became a household name. His music was featured on Enimem's 8 Mile soundtrack and his first official album Get Rich or Die Tryin' was extremely hyped by the entire music community. They had all heard his stuff before in clubs when they played a 50 Cent Mixtape. 50 Cent's rise to fame can be attributed to his ability to make mixtapes and his business sense. He got his name out there and was able to become a very successful rapper. One of most well-known of all time.
