As most of you know, jewelry both men and women's jewelry pieces are usually very personal and precious their total package. Many pieces of jewelry a person collecting a deeply personal meaning as they are collected through purchases special or a significant person or through the family hand-me-down antique jewelry that passes through the generations.
For athletes, however, there is no better piece of jewelry you may have in your possession an Olympic medal. As the Olympics beat full, a new set of athletes are securing these sets of medals. As jewelry, medals have become more elegant over the years. In the Olympics of the modern era in 1896, silver medals were awarded to winners. It was not until later that the Olympics gold for first place, silver for the bronze for the second and third system was adapted.
Until the years 1990, Olympic medals were usually fairly mild. They were usually printed with a color and a symbol and the name of the Olympic city. It was not until the Winter Olympics of 1992 that changed. The Albertville, France hosted the games were known for quirky drawings and models, and their glass infused medals were not different. In fact, the medals were more glass and precious medal. The athletes do not seem to mind as they have been beautifully crafted and, hey, an Olympic medal is an Olympic medal.
The 1994 and 1998 Olympic medals continued this oddity, and it took until 2008 to the usually more traditional Summer Olympics foreign materials used in the medals. Praise Jade Olympic Medals Beijing 2008 used, which gave them a peek at both modern and classic. Since China has spent billions of dollars trying to prefect all the games (at least on the surface), it is not surprising they have provided some of the finest medals in Olympic history. I would say that London hosting the 2012 Olympics, has medals that are more in line with medals instead of using traditional materials such as foreign Chinese.
For more info impress your friends: the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy was the first Olympic medals with holes in the center of them (they were circles and rather fetching). The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic medals are the first to be "wavy". They have emblems engraved sports where the winners have participated and are struck nine times to obtain their wave function. Believe me, they look better than you might think.
