Despite their looks are the same, koalas are not bears at all, but rather, marsupials (an animal that carries its young in a pouch). As they can be found in Australia, a stuffed koala is as close as most people will never get to see one. Any type of collection soft toy that does not include a stuffed koala is far from complete.
According to the Australian Koala Foundation, there is as little as 80 000 koalas in the wild. They also estimate that there could be as little as 43 000. Unfortunately, koalas suffer from severe loss of habitat, domestic dog attacks, bushfires and road accidents. Currently, there is no real law that is being applied and / or effective Australia. It is mainly due to the lack of political will to ensure sufficient resources and the implementation with the police to enforce this. Each State in which the resident koalas (Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia) has its own legislation. In Australia, the government Federal leaves the responsibility to protect koalas in each state. Each state then passes on the local government. The local government is going to enjoy most of the day to day decisions when it comes to the habitat of koalas, but lack the resources and expertise in order to make deal adequately with all. Australian Koala Foundation believes that to save the koala habitat protection in areas where animal life is must be priority number one.
The Queensland government in 1994, koalas considered "common Wildlfe. This" label " has significant implications in that it deemed the animal outside the protection of a much higher nature which was given other species. Finally, in March 2004, after much back and forth of government, as well as evidence provided by the Scientific Advisory Committee status of koalas in a part of the state was changed to "vulnerable." Colas who live in other regions of Queensland, are still considered "ordinary."
In New South Wales koalas have been recorded in 1992 as "rare and vulnerable with an additional change to Vulnerable later. In 1995, in a rare gesture, Koala habitat protection was finally introduced - the first state to offer such specific protection of species. In Victoria, on the other hand, koalas are not even listed as a species threatened. In fact, they live mainly on some islands and some isolated habitats of the continent, which the government considers crowded [with koalas]. Koalas Victoria living on the continent, however, facing the loss of even usual, dog attacks and so on, such as koalas in other parts of Australia.
During the fur trade in the 1920 koalas were hunted too much, they completely disappeared in southern Australia. They were reintroduced on Kangaroo Island in South Australia and Victoria are now classified as "rare".
If for no other reason than to continued awareness to the plight of koalas, the purchase of a plush koala or two can go a long way to supporting organization such as Australian Koala Foundation. Since it is already difficult to resist koala plush teddy bear, how can we let the thing actual disappear?

Kangaroo $31.31 Writer Richard Somers and his wife Harriet leave exhausted post-war Europe in the hope of rebuilding their marriage in a new and freer world. In Australia, in an idyllic cottage by the sea, they believe they have finally realised their dream - until they meet and become involved with Kangaroo, the influential and charismatic leader of a secret fascist army called the Diggers. Much of the writing in this novel is based on Lawrence's experiences in Australia. One of Lawrence's great novels. A beautiful blend of political outburst and Australian life and landscape. Chapter 10, The Nightmare, describes his war-time confrontations with authority in Cornwall and his humiliating examination for service. The novel's protagonist, like Lawrence, was rejected as "unfit." Kangaroo is one of the best travel books ever written, with "unforgettable vivid and accurate pictures of the Australian continent, in which no other English writer has approached Lawrence." - The Bookseller .."a portrait of D. H. Lawrence and Frieda during their stay in Australia, a segment of his life and work without which the whole man cannot be seen in full proportion." - The Bookseller |
