Claiming the American Legacy
Nearly 232 years ago, our founding fathers declared their independence from Penning Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence. This paper draws declared the thirteen American colonies to be a sovereign nation and independent from British rule. He also said the rights of citizens of this new nation to "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." It further states: "We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal." Equality is not measured by results, but by chance.
The United States Constitution was created to "the people of the United States to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of freedom [is] and [their] posterity. "Clearly, the people of that time, there were few rights specific were absolutely crucial. These rights have been directly linked to individual liberties and freedoms we enjoy more. These founders principles and rights are our rights as citizens of the United States of America.
How important were these freedoms our founders? Patrick Henry said in 1775, "Life is so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it Almighty God! I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! "
Freedom is not free, never has been. In 1776, Thomas Paine, said his generation and ours to the high price of freedom when he said, "This are challenging the time men, the soldier and the sunshine patriot will show in this crisis, reduce the service of his country but who now now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny like hell is not easily conquered, but we have this consolation with us, the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap we think too lightly; "dearness Life is only that gives everything its value. God knows how to put a proper price on its products, and it would be strange if celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated. "From the Revolutionary War through the conflicts of the last two centuries and today in Iraq, the lives of men and women were needed to preserve the freedoms we often take for granted.
As we contemplate the freedoms and protections are ours as citizens of this great nation, the blessings that come from God our Father, it is proportional on us to do our part. How? By getting involved actively in the process of government. Tuesday, March 25, we each have the opportunity to attend our mass meetings and participate in local government its most basic level. The delegates elected Tuesday night will represent our districts at county level and state to choose candidates we will see on the ballot in November.
